Some of my favourite films and edits
Rome Snowboards - 'Find Snowboarding'
This is a great edit of split boarding and the potential of the sport. Rome always put together nice edits, but this is probably my favourite as its also shows the French Alps as its best

Interpretation - Will Jackways
This is a great mini film made by filmmaker Tim Pierce. It feature local Wanaka ripper Will Jackways (One of the most stylish snowboarders on the planet)
Its his interpretation of life i guess, but its mainly focused around his love of snowboarding and his local mountains. He is one of those guys who has a unique and amazing outlook on life, he doesn't crave the media attention which for a pro snowboarder is rare these days. I love his laid back kiwi style and how he does what he wants to do, not in a self centred way but more in a listening to his soul kind of way.

Steep
Steep is great film if you want to learn the history of big mountain 'extreme' skiing and its roots. Starting with Bill Briggs descent of the Grand Teton in Jackson Hole in 1971 all the way though until modern day. Its more of a documentary and it shows here the true heart of skiing lies, regular people doing incredible things. Other then Bill, the parts that stand out the most are Doug Coombs and his relentless pursuit of getting steeper. I find it interesting that people like Doug find what they do so normal, they have been around it for so long that they become accustomed to it. He talks about incredibly dangerous challenges as if they are nothing, as if other people have something wrong with them for questioning him. Strangely i find this inspiring, that someone truly believes in what they are doing is right. Great film!

Superheroes Of Stoke
Im not prejudice when it comes to films, i love them whether tis skiing or snowboarding. Im not a huge fan of just park or urban edits which snowboarding seems to have a lot of. The bigger budget ski films seem to have got it right, especially any MSP films. They always have a story and just epic scenes and soundtracks. Superheroes of Stoke is up there, its got all time locations and riding. Richie Permins segment is killer but the best has to be Ingrid Backstrom and Michelle Parkers part, epic riding mixed with the perfect charging song (fire woman - The cult).

Where the trail ends.
I love mountain biking, and a lot of the films that come out seem to capture the 'adventure' side of the sport, probably more so then most ski films. My favourite film to come out in recent years is 'Where the Trail Ends'. It documents a few select riders on their quest to find the best riding spots in the world.Produced in collaboration with Red Bull (who continue to make this industry better) Its unlike most bike films though as the terrain they are seeking out is so steep and gnarly that most people wouldn't ski down it! The soundtrack is amazing, an i would defiantly put this in my top 3 all time films, its one to get the froth levels up for sure!

One of the best jib edits i have ever seen. Seriously, you will be googling them all night! Yawgoons

This Video is up there with my favourites. Its so well shot and the story behind it is powerful. DPS skis have definitely captured the essense of ski touring with this.
This is part of a series called 'The Shadow Campaign'
This segment from Afterglow is one of the most impressive parts from any ski movie, in my opinion. Just for pure cinematography its incredible and mixed with the terrain and level of skiing it makes the complete package.
I don't think its possible to talk about extreme sports films without mentioning Danny Macaskill. The guy is a hero. His ingenuity, skill and creativity levels are insane. He's pretty much Red Bull's poster boy, and he's definitely earned it! This is his latest installment and i think one of his best, the end part is incredible.
